Christmas Time Means Christmas Movies!

Dec 2, 2021

I absolutely LOVE Christmas! I love Christmas so much that it’s been rumored that I start decorating my home for Christmas around Halloween. I will neither confirm nor deny these rumors… I will only say that we take down my Christmas decorations just in time to put up my Valentine’s Day decorations 😉.

In honor of my love for Christmas and Christmas movies, this month’s post is about 3 of my favorite Christmas movies(and 2 bonus movies). Please feel free to share your favorite Christmas, Hannukah or Kwanzaa movies in the comments section below.

May you have a wonderful holiday season filled with laughter, love and great movies! Have a beautifully purple New Year!

Love, hugs and blessings,

Allison

3 movies that fill my heart with Christmassy awesomeness!

3. The Preacher’s Wife (1996)- This movie stars Whitney Houston and Courtney B. Vance as a married couple trying to save their church(and one other thing, but I’ll let you discover what that is) and Denzel Washington who’s the angel charged with helping them during the holiday season. While the storyline is good and there are funny moments, my favorite part of the movie is the heavenly music sung by Whitney! As a child of the 1980s and 1990s, I grew up on Whitney’s music. So, any movie that includes Whitney Houston singing numerous songs – from pop to gospel- is a HUGE winner in my book! Whenever I watch this, I start dancing and singing in my seat! You can find this movie on Amazon Prime.

2. Radio Christmas (2019)- This movie begins with the lead character turning eggs into eggnog when she must take her radio show on the road after her studio is damaged. What starts out looking like a complete catastrophe leads her to the town of Bethlehem, where her most loyal listener lives. From there, the magic of Christmas unfolds in creative and hilarious ways. Radio Christmas combines a secret Santa who saved an entire town, an undercover Christmas Casanova and a Christmas wish that just might come true into one movie that is full of Christmassy twists and turns! You can find this movie on the Lifetime channel and on Amazon Prime.

And, HUGE drumroll please for my tip, top favorite Christmas movie!!!

Christmas in Rome (2019)- This movie is hands down my absolute, positute favorite Christmas movie!! It is a perfect blend of a great romantic story at Christmas time, lead characters who have fantastic chemistry and a location that I absolutely adore… Italy! I love watching this movie so much that I’ve watched it in March, in May and as fireworks were going off outside my home to celebrate the 4th of July. If you want to feel like you’re traveling through Rome at Christmas, laugh at some witty one-liners, or find out what a caffé sospeso is… I highly recommend watching this movie! You can find this movie on the Hallmark Channel and at https://www.hallmarkchannel.com/christmas-in-rome

Although the following movies didn’t make my top 3 list, they are DEFINITELY worth watching!

The movie, Christmas Ever After (2020), gets a special mention because it is either the first, or one of the first, Christmas television movies that stars a wheelchair-using actress. Ali Stroker, the first actress in a chair to win a Tony Award for a role in Broadway musical, is the romantic female lead in this movie!! Let’s hear it for inclusion!!! You can find this movie on the Lifetime channel or on the app, Vudu.

If you’re looking for a great Hanukkah movie, I really enjoy Love, Lights, Hanukkah! (2020). This movie blends Christmas traditions with Hanukkah traditions and tosses in a quick “visit” to Italy!! This movie is on the Hallmark Channel, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and many other apps.

I haven’t come across any Kwanzaa movies that I can recommend. However, if you have seen one that you enjoyed, please tell me about it, either in the comments section or by sending me a personal message right here.

In the words of our Italian friends, Boun Natale 🎄( which means Merry Christmas )!
